UC Davis Global Affairs Vice Provost addresses concerns about the Confucius Institute

"Joanna Regulska explained that UCD’s Confucius Institute has a 'very unique focus on the beverages and food of China. … We don’t do the language, we don’t do anything for credit at all,' she said, although she mentioned an internship for one credit where UCD students work in the Confucius Institute focusing on food.

'There is a little bit of a misconception,' she said, 'that we do the language, that we hire people who are influencing the academic (mission).'

Festival celebrates important Chinese holiday

"On Oct. 7, the Confucius Institute (CI) of UC Davis held its annual Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration at the International Center. Although the event required registration beforehand, it was free for students as well as members of the public.

The CI is a unit of Global Affairs, which seeks to introduce international culture to the Davis community. Every year, the CI puts on a multi-performance festivity to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.
