Tour of Locke, CA 2016

The Confucius Institute at UC Davis is delighted to invite you to lunch and a special tour of the town of Locke, during the Locke Asian Pacific Spring Festival.

Along with a private guided tour of Locke for Confucius Institute guests, come enjoy a lion dance, music, martial arts, arts and crafts, food, community exhibits, silent auction, mahjong and a poker tournament. This annual street festival celebrates Locke's rich history. Chinese immigrants laid many railroad ties and dredged many canals, building CA into a prosperous state. The immigrants' history and heritage was evident in the small Chinese towns they established. In Locke the Chinese lived, prayed, gambled and played mahjong, and the town was added to the registry of national historical places in 1970. Join us in exploring the unique charm of the last remaining town built exclusively by the Chinese for the Chinese.
