The Confucius Institute at UC Davis invites you to join us for the 2016 International Symposium on Chinese food. This two-day, multidisciplinary symposium will explore the cultural symbolism, significance, and function of food, both past and present, in Chinese culture. Our distinguished panel of speakers will include literary scholars, historians, anthropologists, and religious practitioners. In addition to learning from our speakers, you will have the opportunity to attend a Guqin concert and participate in a Chinese tea ceremony. Join us as we discover the ways in which the threads of Chinese food entwine and enrich the mosaic of Chinese culture.
